Besakih Temple perched high on the slope of Mount Agung, 3142 meters, the highest peak of Bali, thus it is considered to be the holiest place in Bali. This is Bali’s Mother Temple, the biggest, the most important and the holiest temple on this island. On the way to get there, we will stop at Tohpati, the center of Balinese hand weaving and hand made Batik process. Then we will proceed to Klungkung, the old capital of Bali (1740-1908), to see the Court of Justice (Kerta Gosa), and the Floating Pavilion (Bale Kambang), whose murals are decorated by the best examples of classical Balinese painting. Afterwards, we will stop at Bukit Jambul, ‘the crested hill’ with nice view of terraced rice fields. On the way back, we will visit the Elephant Cave (Goa Gajah), an ancient Hindu-Buddhist hermitage dated from XI century.

We will stop briefly at Tegenungan Waterfalls, situated near a soft volcanic stone (paras) quarries with nice view to the river, before continuing the trip to Kusamba, the fishing village and salt maker village, and The Bat Cave (Goa Lawah) with thousands of undulating fruit bats covering every space available on its wall. Afterwards we will proceed to Candidasa, a beach resort, and to Tenganan Pagringsingan Village, the aboriginal Balinese with thousand year traditions and rituals still well preserved until the present day. Our tour to this easternmost region is not complete without visits to The Grand Palace (Puri Agung) Kanginan of Karangasem, which combines Balinese, Chinese and European elements; and Tirta Gangga (The Water of Ganges), the royal bathing pools fed by natural springs.

This long tour is arranged in order to appreciate the natural beauty of Bali in a tranquil and peaceful ambiance (and not so tourist). At first, we will explore Bedugul area, a mountain resort lies over 1.000 meters above sea level. We will stop at Ulun Danu Bratan Temple. Built on a promontory surrounded by lake’s water, this holy place is dedicated to Dewi Danu, The Goddess of Water. Afterwards, we will stop at colourful local market that displays many kinds of tropical fruits, vegetables, flowers and spices. Then we proceed to Bali’s Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya), with large collection of plants from all over the world, set in lovely garden and well-manicured lawns, a peaceful refugee from daily activities in a bustling city. Continuing the trip, we leave for North Bali, with a brief stop for a refreshing bath at Git Git Waterfalls, set amidst lush verdant valley. We will pass through Singaraja, Bali’s colonial capital (1848-1953) and Lovina Beach, a beach resort with sprawling hotels and restaurants set in a long black sandy beach. On the way back, we will stop at

Banjar hot spring and at Pupuan, to get a close look at coffee, clove and cocoa plantations, while around Belimbing, we will see endless picturesque terraced rice fields along the way home.

Firstly we will take you to Pura Sada Temple at Kapal, an important sanctuary from Majapahit time in the 14^th century. Afterwards we will stop at Yeh Panas Hot Spring before continuing the trip to Batukaru Mount Temple, a moss covered temple at the mount’s southern slope. Then we will proceed to the rice bowls of Bali around Jatiluwih (means “truly marvellous”), a mountain village with breathtaking views of terraced rice fields along the way. Lunch will be provided at Pacung,

a lovely village with terraced rice fields and the mountains as its backdrops.

Denpasar, the island’s capital is a bustling city that provides governmental, educational and health services, not only to its 521.000 inhabitants, but also to the entire island.  At first we will take you to Kereneng Market, one of the busiest market in town. Here we can find large range of goods, from daily needs to ritual utensils. Afterwards, we will proceed to Satria Bird Market, with many kinds of tropical birds from all over Indonesia. Continuing the trip, we will stop at Downtown Denpasar. At close distances, we can see several interesting places, such as: Puputan Square, on September 16, 1906, this was the battleground between the invading Dutch troops and Badung people; Jagatnatha Temple, the town main temple with single shrine to The Supreme God (Sang Hyang Widhi), and Bali Museum, with large collection of prehistoric and historic items, high quality handicrafts, ritual utensils and daily tools used by the local people.

We will take you to Uluwatu Temple, a cliff edge temple at 95 meters above sea level, with fantastic view to the Indian Ocean. This is the masterpiece of Nirartha, a holy priest from XVI century, and a great place to watch the sunset over the sea that filled with sailing outriggers (jukung). Afterwards, we will witness the performance of Monkey (Kechak) Dance, the most unique dance among Balinese dances. It is not accompanied by any instrumental music, but by a male chorus performed by over 70 men. Their hands and torso movements with sudden jerks swaying back and forth illuminated by torchlight, gives an unreal impression. In the middle of the circular stage, The Ramayana Story will be performed as the Hindu version of Romeo and Juliet but with happy ending.(Then we’ll take you to Jimbaran Bay for having seafood dinner, Just for Price 1)

A trip to Ubud, the cultural heartland of Bali, is an excellent way to get an understanding of Balinese art and culture. A visit to a local family compound in Singapadu will give us a new perspective on the way of life of this friendly people. Our last stop will be at Wanara Wana monkey forest where live dozens of long tailed macaques considered sacred by the locals. Then we will proceed to Petulu Village, famous for its white herons sanctuary.

Wayang Kulit or shadow puppet play is one of the most popular performances in Bali. The figures of the Wayang Kulit can move and speak manipulated by a puppeteer or a dalang. It is usually performed in relation to Balinese religious ceremonies, such as: three months old of a baby,

an otonon or 210 day old of baby or a cremation. It is also held in temple festivals or in order to sweep away dirt or nyapuleger (only for those who were born on Tumpek Wayang day) or simply for entertainment (rame-rame). Now you have an opportunity to see this old community’s school in

a shadow puppet show while enjoying your favourite dishes.

The classical Legong Kraton Dance was performed for king’s entertainment. It is performed by three girls dressed in gold brocades and flowered headdresses. The story tells King Lasem kidnapped Princess Rangkasari, the daughter of Daha King. Her brother demanded King Lasem to set her free otherwise facing a war but the king refused. On the way to the war he met an eagle that was a bad omen and eventually he was killed. Other dances will also be performed such as:

Baris Warrior dance, Tambulilingan Bumble Bee Dance etc. (Sumptuous dinner will be provided in

We will witness the performance of Monkey (Kechak) Dance, the most unique dance among Balinese dances. It is not accompanied by any instrumental music, but by a male chorus performed by over 70 men. In the early morning we will drive you to the northern beach of Bali, to the beach resort of Lovina (means Love Indonesia). By motorboat we go to see the attraction of the friendly dancing dolphins, welcoming the morning sun. Afterwards we will have breakfast at a local restaurant and then we will take you to Banjar village to see Brahma Vihara Buddhist Monastery and

The Banjar Hot Spring. On the way back we will pass Pupuan and Belimbing villages noted as the rice bowls of Bali.

Lovina Beach

We will leave for Penelokan, Kintamani very early in the morning. Around 4.00 o’clock we will go down to the volcano’s foot to start climbing, accompanied by an experienced guide. At half way up, we’ll take a rest briefly and around 6.00 o’clock we will reach the top just in time to see the beautiful sunrise over Mount Abang and Mount Agung, and on clear days it is also possible to see Mount Rinjani in Lombok. While enjoying the sunrise, we will have our simple breakfast with our ‘special volcanic steam eggs’. On the way down we will have another rest and then we will relax on a hot spring at Toyabungkah.  

Suggested clothing for Climbing: sport shoes, coat and long pants.
