Immigration
Visitors coming to Bali by air from
outside Indonesia must be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least 6 months
and have with them upon arrival either a return or onward ticket.
The Visa requirement is waived for nationals from friendly countries attending a
conference which has received official approval.
The Tourist Pass is for a maximum of two months and is not extendable.
Customs Regulations
The following articles, next to those for personal use, are allowed to be carried along: personal photo-, film or
video camera, 2 liters of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 100 g of tobacco, a reasonable quantity of perfume and presents which do not
exceed the value of US$ 100.00. It is strictly forbidden to import Chinese printed matters, pornographic printed material, recorded video cassettes, arms and
ammunition, drugs and fresh fruits.
Foreign Exchange
The local currency is
Rupiah (Rp).
There are 100 - 500 - 1,000 - 5,000 - 10,000 - 20,000 - 50,000 - 100,000 notes.
Also the coins 25 - 50 - 100 - 500 - 1,000.
No restriction for bringing in or taking out foreign currencies, but it is prohibited to bring in or take out more than RP. 50,000
Most major currencies, either bank notes or
travellers’ cheques are easily converted into rupiah (Indonesia’s currency).
Banks and Money Changers can easily be found in the larger towns in Bali, but it is
advisable to carry sufficient rupiah (Rp) when travelling to the less popular areas of
Bali.
Almost all hotels and other businesses will accept foreign currency, but usually at a
lower rate of exchange than offered by Banks or Money Changers.
